Tonight’s session for the OSR scouts was all about cleaning, flattening and stitching in preparation for the weekend’s Remembrance Day parade at the memorial in Stoke Gifford.
After being split into 3 groups the scouts were shown how to prep their boots/ shoes and then the technique of polishing and buffing them so they look brand new. Also they were shown how to press their uniform and necker and then role them correctly. Finally they were shown how to thread a needle and how to chose what size is required plus choosing thread and starting off sewing badges on to their shirts or a piece of fabric and how to complete the task so it doesn’t come apart.
Now they can do it and their uniforms look so good the leaders expect them to maintain this standard for all scout sessions.
Good job all tonight. Big ty for all the scouts that lent their leather shoes to be cleaned over and over again. They looked fab.
Now we can go to the parade looking like we are brand new.
