Tonight was a very special treat for the OSR scout troop, we were visited by Gary and Morgan Falconry Experts from Puckston Park near Weston. They brought along 3 birds of prey ( Spud the Falcon from Europe, A white faced Owl from Africa and Mills the Harris Hawk from USA.
This was a totally interactive session with scouts and leaders invited to don a glove and allow themselves to become armrests for these magnificent creatures. If anyone is ever down near Weston-Super-Mare I would highly suggest you visit the Falconry centre, the scouts loved it and there is much more to see.
Its a long day but very well organised and runs like clockwork the Avon County Shooting Competition is always well attended and this year two of the OSR scouts attended. The weather was good and the scouts had fun with Dan defending his title and Millie taking part for the first time and learning loads. Well done to both, finishing in the top half of their respective age groups.
So first night back and straight into an adventurous activity, archery to get the scouts ready for the County Shooting and Archery Comp. Paul took the session on the playing fields at St. Michaels school. Big thank you for all his hard work. We had some good archers within the troop and hopefully some will take part in the comp later in September.
