Tonight the old school rooms scout troop received an amazing talk from Sabina a guest speaker brought in to cover the harmful effects caused by drugs. Sabina is 6 years clean of drugs herself and spoke about how she became involved with them, how it escalated and what she had to do to feed her habit. The scouts were silent for 45 minutes. Tonight has given the information to make an informed choice if they are ever faced with the same situation as Sabina. If this talk saves one life it will be worth it and Sabina has such courage to share her story. #respect. Six scouts from OSR troop of 1st Stoke Gifford joined forces to enter the Strategy Camp Competition run each year by Glos Scouts at Cirencester Park, Glos. All of them had fun chilling on the Friday evening and then on Saturday walking almost 12 miles dealing with challenges and problem solving within the confines of the park. Let’s see how well they got on at the presentations tomorrow before we all go home. So the presentation went well and this year there were medals for all hub (most points on all sub bases of A,B or C). We didn’t come in the top 3 so need to wait until the results are published. The results are in and of 334 teams this year the OSR scouts finished in 17th place! Whoop whoop. Great job All. Tonight as the Old School Rooms Scout Troop continued with their second circuit training evening as part of physical activity this term. Once this was completed we were joined by Luke a black belt judo instructor at Patchway Judo Club. The scouts spent an hour in judo jackets learning techniques and from the looks of the photos having lots of fun. Big TY to Luke for coming in and good luck with the commonwealth games! OSR Scouts start their four weeks of physical activity towards the skills challenge award.12/6/2019
Tonight the OSR scouts started their 4 weeks of physical activity with 30 minutes of circuit training ( press ups, sit ups, jump burpees and line jumps) followed by an hour of aerobics with a big thank you to Nina who runs her own classes in the same hall during the week. The scouts started off a bit timidly but by the second song in most were hooked. Next week we have to improve on our scores! |
