The Brunel District draughts completion held in Fishponds on 24/02/2015 had representing 1st Stoke Gifford OSR troop Dan White, Cody Bowyer and Jack Windows. No pressure, every year S/G came in the top three, 8pm and the games began. One after another the trio were triumphant and before we knew it, it was all over. The winners were 1st Stoke Gifford, certificates and a trophy and applause from all the other troops to prove it. As normal the annual swimathon at Bradley Stoke pool was fiercely contested by the scouts and guides from Stoke Gifford and Patchway judo club. The competitor's lined up for their hour of swimming and an hour later it was all over, the scouts from school posted 116 lengths and the osr scouts came closely behind with 115 lengths. A great time was had by all and everyone had a certificate to prove they were there. Well done to all.
During the JOTI 2014 the OSR scout troop made contacts within the Avon scout radio team who accepted an invitation to come along on troop night and broadcast to the county with 1st Stoke Gifford scouts. After weeks of preparation and numerous ideas and music requests the scouts entered the studio, a bit quiet at first but after a short while couldn't stop talking! |
