After 4 1/2 years of scouting 6 members of the two scout troops were rewarded with their Gold Chief Scouts Awards presented by the Deputy County Commissioner Stu Ballard at a ceremony at St. Michaels school after an evening of fun and games oh and a BBQ of course. The 6 scouts William, Michael, Mathew, Jack all from the OSR troop and Bradley and Thomas from the School troop were all given their badges and certificates whilst the families and scouts watched on. An inspirational talk from Stu regarding all the hard work the scouts had put in and thank you also to the leaders and parents for arranging a full balanced program and lifts to all the activities etc. What glorious weather for a walk in the country well a 20 mile hike with all their kit and half a tent each in 28 degrees. The safety car got quite stuffy also! The scouts from OSR troop started at Severn Beach sea front and walked to Oldbury-On-Severn where they camped for the night then the second day walked to Berkeley power station where they were met by parents. Big ty to Paul and Kathryn for walking on the Saturday and Lee for the overnight supervision. Also Janet and Julie for a wonderful breakfast and packed lunch and finally Nick, George and Jack for walking the Sunday section behind the scouts in case of emergency. The scouts did great especially in the hot conditions Well done all! We will be holding our AGM at 20:30 in the Old School Rooms Coffee Shop on Monday the 10th of July.
Any parents wishing to attend are more than welcome. |
