Tonight OSR Scout Troop said goodbye to four of their members but not before they received their Gold Chief Scouts Awards by the Group Scout Leader Paul. This is the highest award achievable in the scout section and Tia, Sasha, Dylan and Jake have worked hard to complete all of the Nine Challenge Awards plus numerous Activity badges and nights away. The troop are very busy and their achievements speak for themselves but it wouldn’t be possible without the commitment of the young people their parents and a full balanced program. Congratulations to you all.
After another busy term it was time to let our hair down with the OSR Scouts trying their skills at crazy golf in Hambrook at The Pirates Bay. It was a lovely evening and the scouts had a fab time. Big TY to the leaders for all their hard work this term. What a beautiful day to be fishing at the pond in Winterbourne for OSR Scouts. Firstly the rules of the club and a quick walk around to see where the scouts could fish from. Then a safety chat and a demo by Robin on casting etc and once all the scouts were happy it was time to fish! It wasn’t long before Megan caught the first of what ended up as a lot of fish, everyone caught a few and some lost their catch off the barbless hooks. The catch of the day went to Martin which needed a net to secure with a quick photo and back into the water. The scouts had lunch and continued with all enjoying their first experience. Big TY to the committee for allowing us to fish the pond and to Robin, Martin and John for helping with the de tanglements. What a great experience for all. Evening of discovering how harmful drugs, alcohol and tobacco are on the human body for OSR Scouts.12/7/2019
This week the OSR Scouts welcomed Andrea into the troop to learn how bad drugs, alcohol and tobacco are for your bodies especially when you don’t know what’s actually in them. The scouts had to research details of different drugs and what they not only look like but also effects and side effects. Big TY to Andrea for coming in, the scouts learnt lots tonight. |
