Continuing with our close relationship with The Royal British Legion, OSR scouts give up some of their Half term holidays to raise money for the Poppy Appeal with members of the Legion at our local Sainsbury's store. After a day of grafting the collection bucket was full and lot's of local people commented on how nice it was to see the scouts helping out in such a worthy cause. This event will count towards the scouts brand new Poppy Badge and community challenge award. Well done all, I'm very proud of what you all did and more so because after all our WW1 research, you all know why you were doing it!! Instead of running our own Joti session we attended the county sponsored event held at 229th scout group HQ, Ashton, Bristol. Joti chat was done on IPads and also there was a stop/shoot filming area, craft, wii, Pizza cooking, Radio segment and chill out zone. We will definitely do this again. OSR scouts got involved again in the organising and running of the Harvest Festival to achieve a section of their Promise challenge and Faith activity badge. Well done to them all great job! All the collected food was taken by the scouts to The Sisters of St. Paul and Filton Food Bank. |
