So this evening in preparation for the Kahoutek competition in a few weeks the old school rooms scouts tried some problem solving. From throwing a welly to dropping a (so called) protected egg, to memory kimms game, holding as many items as possible to communicating a model from LEGO For your teammates to copy without seeing. The patrols moved around taking part in all 5 problems. 2 of the eggs smashed, the welly thrown by Luke went the furthest, all teams created a duplicate model with most holding 50+ items and almost remembering the 32 items. Falcons finished top, then Eagles, kestrels, hawks and Merlin’s. Everyone learnt something and all had fun. Good job all. The local little Stoke Gifford magazines March/ April 2024 publication has the busy start for OSR scouts within its pages.
Big ty to all the leaders that give up their personal time to volunteer in the troop. Also well done to all the scouts for joining in all the fun. Yesterday was founders day and some OSR scouts wore their uniforms to school and recited their scout promise. Congrats all. Those that sent in photos ty This evening Steve was back for astronautics part 2. This time it was rockets (pop rockets) forces and planetary surface details from space. The troop was split into 2 groups and off they went. Biscuits and sugar icing for the surface detail. Plus a skateboard and different weights for forces, 35mm film cases with vinegar and bicarbonate. Big TY to Steve for making this difficult activity badge fun for the scouts. Let’s hope they’ve done their homework!! |
