A lovely day for all the uniformed groups to congregate on the green and parade to st Michael’s church for an Easter service held by Iain and Sam. Some lovely readings and prayers by the young people and lots of thoughts especially when Iain set fire to 2 teabags to demonstrate the rising of Jesus, which floated up into the air to a rapturous applause. Big well done to all the rainbows, brownies, guides, beavers, cubs, scouts and leaders plus parents and family members for attending. Kohoutek was back up and running thanks to the Bristol University alumni. 30 teams of scouts and guides descended on camerton village community hall to take on 20 problem solving challenges. The team was confident and the weather was lovely until the last hour when a fine rain started. The final finishing place is yet to be received but everyone had a great day! The results are in. We finished joint 8th out of 30 teams with 165 points. The scouts from OSR scout troop spent an evening learning all about kit whilst at go outdoors, Brislington. Everything from spoons plastic or metal, leather or synthetic boots, compasses, clothing, fitting rucksacks, emergency shelters, what’s different between 1 season and 4 season sleeping bags and fillings plus self inflating roommates, Ease of 2 person tents to put up and take down against pop up tents. Plus much much more. Big TY to Mark in store for all his ideas, information and knowledge of new materials and manufacturing changes. |
