Last evenings zoom session for OSR Scouts was all about qualities of types of wood for campfire burning and alter fire cooking. Then we completed a Kahoot quiz on trees, leaves and stuff which took up until the end of 40 minutes. The session was restarted and we completed a movie kahoot quiz whilst talking about the Amber Code and return to face to face scouting in small groups outdoors possibly from September. The scouts were reminded of this weekends Great Indoors Challenge being run by scout HQ. The session was finished with a game of bingo and we all wished each other well and to keep safe until next week. OLd School Rooms Scout Troop ASL Ali Emsley answers the call during lockdown and sews hundreds of laundry bags and face masks. This appeared in the local journal today.Big Well done time Ali for a great job.
http://www.stokegiffordjournal.co.uk/2020/07/25/scout-leader-answers-call-during-covid-19-pandemic/ This week the challenge was to make a knot board with 10 knots of the scouts choice. Just some fun to fill any spare time for those not back to school or doing tonnes of homework. Then on zoom the scouts showed the boards and explained the knots and some answered questions on what knot was used for etc. Then to pancake making live on zoom. Ingredients list sent out earlier in the week. Safety first then mixing, on with the frying pan and boom on to the plate and sprinkle with lemon juice and sugar. Yummy. Paul our GSL said it was hilarious and Kathryn one of the ASLs loved her pancake that was made for her (don’t tell her but it was flipped twice and luckily didn’t hit the floor) All the scouts made edible pancakes and enjoyed eating their masterpieces. Great job all, some fab flipping going on too! |
