Tonight the OSR scouts and cubs plus cubs from school pack went along to the panto at Bristol hippodrome to see Cinderella. 80 cubs, scouts, leaders and parents braved the freezing temperatures and boy were we glad we did.
The panto was fab you luss darling! The costumes were dazzling, the sets were amazing and the cast were very very entertaining! Now that’s the last scout session of 2022, it’s nearly Christmas and we can all relax and have a very merry festive break. Here’s to 2023! Tonight the OSR as outs had their final session before Christmas in the old school rooms (we have the panto next week). Tonight we had a lot of fun and games after another very busy term. As you can see from the photos the scouts competed against the other patrols head to head and individual games like pass the parcel. What a busy evening but a lot of fun and maybe a little too much sugar/ chocolate! Last evening the scouts from the OSR attended the primary school in SG to use the iPads and internet to complete posters for recruitment. The new headmaster Peter Barnard was more than happy to help when he was told that the posters would be in the 5 languages most spoken by pupils in the school (st Michael’s ) to encourage those new to the area due to conflict or other movement to join scouting. Hawks covered Squirrels, Falcons covered Beavers, Merlins covered Cubs, Kestrels covered Scouts and Eagles covered Leaders. Once they had their English versions of the write ups they had to translate the text into Cantonese, Urdu, Polish, Portuguese and Romanian. The scouts came up with some lovely ideas which now the leaders need to double check before publishing here and in paper form to be placed on notice boards and in schools. Great job all. I know it looks like they were playing games but this was after the hard work was over, honest. |
