We were joined tonight by 2 of Bristol rugby's up and coming players Ellis Genge and Callum Sheedy. Both players answered questions from the scouts including why they started to play rugby, positions they've played in and what do the aspire to achieve in the game to name but a few. The players spoke about nutrition, diet, sleep, exercise and life style from a forwards and a backs perspective. This is the troops second session with John and Steve, having done tree identification this time we were learning about tree felling and planting. Great fun and lots of information for the final exam to learn. We have a session for the scouts to catch up and then the written test and presentation evening. 7/11/15 we were visited by members of Black Dog a voluntary group from Bristol University that talk about mental health, signs and treatments. The group were great and the scouts were very interested in the subject and very sympathetic. An enlightening session for all. Thank you to Black Dog and if any of the scouts need to talk about anything the Leaders are always available Old School Rooms scouts attended Patchway Fire Station last night and were put through the Fire Safety activity badge by White watch. Included in the visit was a tour of the station, demo of how to go down the pole safely (health and safety), looking at the engine inside and out and of course the TV lounge for the learning part. All scouts passed with flying colours and couldn't wait to get home to check the smoke alarms and grill their parents on the family evacuation plan. Thank you to Tony and the crew for a great visit |
