Tonight members of the old school rooms scout troop attended the lockleaze scout hq for some crossbow training. 2 x 90 minute sessions run by Paul and claire. The scouts had a lot of fun, learnt things and improved during the evening. Big TY. Last evening the 4 scouts from OSR cooking team entering into the County Cooking Comp in February spent last evening finalising their menu and practice cooking the 3 course meal. Getting timings right and making sure they all know what tasks each scout has. The food tasted fantastic and looked great. A few tweaks and they’ll be ready. Update to come. The OSR invited Amanda Prowse into last evenings session to talk about her writing and give tips and advice plus a Q&A at the end. The old school rooms troop haven’t tried to achieve the writers activity badge before and all the scouts brought in copies of their work for example pen pal letters, poems, reviews, stories and more. Amanda spoke about how she got into writing, her lows and highs, how she almost gave it up but is glad she received some help and advice and has gone from strength to strength. She writes 2 books per year and her brother illustrates them. Amanda spent time reading through some of the scouts work and signing copies of one of her books which everyone could have a few copies. Big TY to Amanda and Ali for organising. |
