Tonight the osr scouts visited the RNLI station in Portishead where Geoff and Malcolm showed us around the rib and other equipment and also as we are doing lots of water activities this term told the scouts all about water safety and mud. The scouts were quietly taking everything in and asking questions. This was a good community visit where the scouts learnt about a real job carried out by volunteers. 21-23/4/2023 25 scouts and 5 leaders from the Old School Rooms Scout Troop took over Olveston HQ for a weekend camp. The scouts arrived at 6pm on Friday and were very excited for what was about to come, the theme was TaskMaster and the patrols were all numbered off and called to do tasks from throwing tea bags to eating bread to make a picture to A frame racing. Friday evening full of wide games and was finished off with a film voted for by a Google poll. Saturday began with cooking breakfast then axe/ knife and saw training. Cooked lunch then A frame racing. Cooking dinner then the heavens opened so the campfire was cancelled and we had popcorn and a second film. Sunday started with cooking breakfast then camp gadgets and firelighting with cooking lunch then cleaning up the HQ and grounds before getting home for a well deserved chill out. The TM was won by Hawks. Big congrats to them. 9 scouts that had never done A/K/S before passed the tests congrats to them. Ty to the 5 leaders. Ohh and lots of chatting, fun and time to chill!! |
