This week we were visited by one of our chosen charities The Julian Trust and were given a talk and information in question and answer session about their work with homeless people in the City of Bristol, why they are needed and what other help and support they give. The Julian Trust are a charity and so we collected clothes and blankets etc to donate as they rely on the generosity of the public all year round. They provide a hot meal for anyone that needs one and afterwards provide a bed in a warm safe environment for 33 homeless men and women. They wish they could do more but restrictions make this impossible. The scouts then took our donations down to St. Pauls. This week we were visited by Mark a Lt Col from the REME who explained about his Army career and had lots of equipment for the scouts to try on etc. We also had Ironing, sewing and shoe cleaning/ polishing. The evening was finished off with some drill practise, everyone seemed to be having fun either trying to put up the mosquito tent, carry the 40kg rucksack or trying on the kit Mark is expected to wear when out in the field, someone also tried on the S12 respirator. Big ty to Mark for giving up his evening to show the scouts what being in HM Forces is like.
What a lovely day to get up early and head down to The Mendip Hills for a caving session with OSR scouts. After a quick safety talk and equipment check it was to the Cave and a great session lead by Marek. We even managed some photos inside. The scouts loved it and so we have booked a session before and after Christmas in 2018. Big ty to Marek and Wayne. Well after a long Christmas break we were all raring to go last night. At the last Patrol Leaders forum they had requested a junk modelling session where they dressed up a patrol member so we chose Robots. There was so much junk to choose from and the scouts had fun with their creative sides. These were the results |
