This evening as part of the Healthy lifestyle, exercise, diet and sleep the old school rooms scout troop invited Raphell, Mara and Hannah into their session to talk about how they keep healthy to play basketball for the Bristol Flyers teams. The scouts asked some great questions and the guests explained a bit about their careers and how they regularly train, have plenty of sleep and watch what food they put in their bodies to keep on top of their game! No fizzy drinks and No junk food. All in moderation when not playing but they’ve gone without so much for their careers Great talk, the 3 were made honary OSR members with neckers and they signed flyers posters for the scouts and Raphell managed 43 seconds spinning a basketball on finger meaning Falcons prediction was closest. Big TY to all 3 players and Chris for driving them over Today saw members of the old school rooms scout troop try their hand at caving in Goat church cave system. It was an early start and boy was it chilly but once there they kitted up and after a safety briefing by Marek it was a short walk from the car park to the entrance. Assisted by Lee the scouts spent 90 minutes hundreds of meters under ground where the temperature stays a constant toasty warm. Learning about caves and bats plus anything else that came to mind the scouts had a great time. Big TY to Marek and Lee. We couldn’t do it without the volunteer leaders. Old School Rooms scout troop in Stoke Gifford mentioned in local magazine for all their Remembrance Day preparations plus in the magazine was mentioned about the RBL launch at Parkway train station which members of the troop also attended.
