The troop were split for this DIY session, bird boxes were built by all the scouts with lots of hammering, gluing, nailing, clamping and assembling going on with some great results. Of course the other half of the troop will be here next week so more photo’s to follow. Many thanks to Charlie and Stu from B&Q for teaching us some DIY and keeping it safe! 2014 Swimathon held at Bradley Stoke pool with Patchway judo club and 2nd Stoke Gifford Guide unit. A record number of participants took part with the eventual winners being the older judo players. The 2 scout lanes produced 119 and 116 lengths with loads of effort given by all. A great time was had by all with plenty of time between lengths for a good chat and catch up. Thank you to all that took part, see you again next year. Update, we have raised over £300! Massive thank you to OSR scouts from the Filton Food Bank for their generous donation. 2 Large boxes containing contributions collected over a few weeks where all scouts families added a couple of items to their weekly shopping which soon built up and the Food Bank staff were very pleased and are coming along to talk to the scouts and tell us when, why, what, who, where all the food goes etc etc.
The Winter Olympics in Russia had nothing on us as the guide challenge included melting an ice cube, building a snowman and snap shot to name but a few. It was a close run thing all along and ended after many events in a tie break, so the question to win. Which nation won the most Gold medals in the last Winter Olympics……… Loads of guesses and then Olly shouted out USA and the rest is history. Scouts win back the coveted Challenge Winners title. |
