nine osr scouts receive gold chief scouts award from county commissioner graham brant 25/03/201525/3/2015
Wednesday 25th March 2015 saw a record 9 scouts from OSR scout troop receive their Gold Chief scouts awards from county commissioner Graham Brant at OSR. During the ceremony where parents were in attendance Graham commented on the fact that in the whole of Avon county there were only 38 recipients of this award in the year and so to have 9 just from our troop was a fantastic success. The recipients were; Adam Pritchett, Fraser Edgecumbe, Joe Holland, Nathan House, Vicky Taylor, Eve Melling, Esme Gibbs, Ellie Smith and (Florie Griffiths who was absent on the evening due to sickness). OSR scouts 2 day expedition from Severn Beach to Berkekely with an over night stay at Oldbury-on-Severn. 12 o'clock at Severn Beach 8 scouts, 2 young leaders and 2 leaders rucksacks on their backs and maps in their hands. The weather was fabulous just what we ordered. Arriving at the sailing club early and erecting the tents then up to the Anchor inn for a well deserved dinner! We returned to the campsite to witness the Severn river about 4 feet from our tents having risen about 6 meters in 2 hours. OMG! A cold night was had by all then in the morning bacon and sausage baps and away we went again. Again another fantastic days weather and finishing at the power station just before 2pm. A great time was had by all back home for Tea and medals
Back at Sainsbury's again for another fundraising session for next years camp. Good numbers of scouts and leaders to help out. The store wasn't as busy as it has been previously but the scouts were enthusiastic. Six hours and a grand total of £605.68 to be placed in the 25th anniversary camp fund to go with the rest. |
