visit to cattybrook quarry and brickworks, over lane, Almondsbury for geology badge (usa) 16/07/2016
This is what Jeremy and I have been looking forward to ever since our recce patrol many weeks ago,
I would like to thank Mia and the other members of staff for a very interesting and informative visit firstly to the quarry which most of us didn't even know was so close to home and just how vast it is. Then after drinks and biscuits the brickworks side of the business.
So the scouts saw the whole procedure from collection to production of minerals from the earth into a useful item namely a Brick.
Everything was so well planned and co ordinated also being a weekend there were no heavy machinery moving about the site.
I am going to try and take up the offer of an engraved brick which hopefully we can donate to 40 acres conservation group for their bat sanctuary, commemorating us helping to renovate the old building in the field.
