stream clearing at 40 acres, litter picking for south glos. council "big clean month" and the forestry commission tree felling session all in one day!
Well after that title we knew we had a lot to be getting on with. Not too early a start but it was cold, once the scouts got stuck in we all warmed up (except Emily) and we cleared 3 dams formed in the stream. Throwing the branches back up on to the embankment and the manmade rubbish in to bags for collection by the council. Then we had a break making sure our hands were clean and sanitised. After lunch a few went off to fell a tree and plant new saplings and the rest of us did a mammoth sweep of the whole area removing all the rubbish we could get our hands or pickers on!
At the end of the day everyone was happy with what we had achieved and although wet were in good spirits. We are planning another session in the summer. Laurence the chairperson for 40 acres was very impressed and said we had done a fabulous job.
