Today we visited Woolaston Court Trout Lakes near Lydney and what a beautiful place it is. We were there to complete session 2 & 3 of the Angler badge and hopefully the sections on handling and Hygiene (dispatching, gutting and fileting the fish was an optional extra). The day started so well with the scouts and adult helpers eager to get as much fishing done as possible during the session. Having reserved copious bags of chips from the local chippie in Stoke Gifford we were all ready for the trout to jump on to our flies! The trout had other ideas however, they frolicked in the lake making wonderful jumps and twists and turns as if laughing at our amateur attempts at casting. On the plus side the day was great, lovely and relaxing and the company couldn't have been nicer. Well done all and at our final session in October I think I will stay in the car as I'm obviously a bad omen!! The Instructor from the farm was great, a very knowledgeable ex bobby who couldn't do enough for us and we all learnt from his experience. Comments are closed.
