This evening was the guides last as the unit is disbanding so we wanted to make the challenge a good one, so bring on the assault course at Woodhouse. A full safety brief and protective head gear was issued and worn by all taking part, a walk through and demonstration of all the sections and then away we went. The OSR scouts were split into 2 teams and went first completing the course which was dry in an impressive time of 9.57, time penalties gave them a final score of 11.57. Second up were the guides and they received no time penalties and all got fully involved in the mud and water in fact they seemed to be enjoying themselves, their time was 13.38. The OSR second team were next and the course was starting to get a little damp after the guides water fight. I'd like to say how impressed I was by Dylan who didn't miss and obstacle with his disabilities causing him some difficulties but he ploughed on, their time was 18.08. I'm not sure if they had any time penalties as Lee was supervising their run but as the final group were about to start I did have to tell OSR team to stop playing in the water section (they were all drenched and loving it). So now onto the final team the school scouts, I had high hopes for them as most had done the course before. They had a larger team but several missed out all the main obstacles and so when they finished with an impressive time of 11.34 it seemed like they had won but with 6 minutes of time penalties gave them a final score or 17.34. So Osr scouts came 1st and 4th, guides who get the award for teamwork and enthusiasm came 2nd and school scout came 3rd. Well done to all, hot showers and clean up then to the BBQ.
