osr scouts visit cattybrook quarry and brickworks to complete their scouts of America geology merit badge

Today the OSR scouts visited The Cattybrook Quarry and Brickworks to complete the Scouts of America Geology Merit badge. We were met by Mia and other members of staff who had all given up there Saturday morning to show us around firstly the quarry where Jeremy Gibbs the Geologist that took us through the badge requirements was able to show the scouts different rock and mineral samples etc.  Then after a refreshments break it was in to the Brickworks where we saw what happens to the raw material dug up from the quarry. The tour was amazing and on behalf of the troop I would like to say a Big Thank you to the quarry staff and especially Mia for all their hard work making this event happen, the scouts loved it and learnt lots to.
