Mothers Day and OSR scouts get together for the 6th year on the trott to take part in the South Gloucestershire Council BIG cleanup month. With the 3 parks in Stoke Gifford and tree planting in Meade Park where the scouts were joined by Friends of Meade Park Conservation Group. We started at 10am and collected 3 large bags of rubbish and a car wheel and tyre from the Poplar Rooms field then a further 6 bags from Meade Park where we managed to get right into the bushes and wooded areas to get the hard to reach litter. We also found a carpet. After a short lunch break we started with the tree planting and by 2pm we had planted 78 saplings of various trees with a support stick and protective sleeve. We then made our way back to the OSR to spend the remainder of our Mothering Sunday with family. It was great fun and we received several supportive comments from walkers in the parks that we were doing a great job. Also Jenny from The Friends Group was very pleased with all our hard work and we promised to do more joint conservation activities with them. Great job to all the scouts and parents that helped especially the Mum on her special day. Comments are closed.
