Blue Peter have started a project for groups and schools to get involved in. It’s called climate Heros and the recipients of the completed program will earn themselves a Green Blue Peter Badge. So what do the OSR scouts have to do, well the 12 scouts have to recycle and reduce plastic use, they have to plant pollenating plants to attract bees etc to their gardens and also reduce the amount of energy they use by stopping their computer games 30 minutes earlier all for 2 weeks. Plus as a group they need a piece of Art. The team had their first zoom session around the end of April 2021 and decided on a huge globe covered in non recyclable crisp packets all to show that we need to take care of our planet. So we’ve halved the team and first 6 members have papier-mâché a giant rubber balloon. The remainder will cover the land masses in various coloured packets and the sea in blue crisp packets. Finally we will have a team photo with the rest of the troop using a SUEZ recycling lorry as a background so we can help push the message about crisp bags etc can not be recycled so please dispose of them responsibly in your black household bins. Big ty to st Michael’s school for letting us use the hall and to SUEZ for helping us borrow their truck. The Art work with hands around the globe will finally be sent off to Blue Peter for consideration. We haven’t done a Blue Peter project before and are quite excited to see if all our hard work is good enough for a badge. Comments are closed.
