This evening was the last session of term before the festive season. Lots of hard work and lots of badges given out to the scouts. 4 OSR Scouts Mia, Nathan, Maya and Jamal all having completed the Gold Chief Scouts Award from DC Clive Mason. Unfortunately in these times of isolation etc only Nathan and Mia could attend in person. 4.5 years of hard work completing all 9 Challenge Awards at least 6 activity badges (but more like 26) and at least 8 nights away but in our busy troop we do 4-5 camps a year. The scouts put in the work and attend regularly and it’s the job of the leaders to put the opportunity in the programme so they can complete the highest award in the scout section. Also this evening we were joined by Steve Daniels the district explorer scout commissioner who presented Josh and Jack with their Young Leader Belts and Certificates. The YL scheme is a series of modules giving the young people the tools to complete face to face missions running activities and games within the chosen section on a voluntary basis. The modules are similar to the adult training and when they become adults will help them gain their Wood Badges. Finally but definitely not least Steve was presented with the Order of Merit for his outstanding contribution to scouting and Paul Smith (GSL) was presented with the Silver Acorn for his outstanding contribution within the group and district. Congratulations to all for all their hard work, BRAVO. Comments are closed.
