Kohoutek was back up and running thanks to the Bristol University alumni. 30 teams of scouts and guides descended on camerton village community hall to take on 20 problem solving challenges. The team was confident and the weather was lovely until the last hour when a fine rain started. The final finishing place is yet to be received but everyone had a great day! The results are in. We finished joint 8th out of 30 teams with 165 points. The scouts from OSR scout troop spent an evening learning all about kit whilst at go outdoors, Brislington. Everything from spoons plastic or metal, leather or synthetic boots, compasses, clothing, fitting rucksacks, emergency shelters, what’s different between 1 season and 4 season sleeping bags and fillings plus self inflating roommates, Ease of 2 person tents to put up and take down against pop up tents. Plus much much more. Big TY to Mark in store for all his ideas, information and knowledge of new materials and manufacturing changes. Old school rooms scout and family members braved the beautiful day to litter pick around Stoke Gifford. We knew it was Mother's Day so we invited all the mums to come along too. Starting at the osr car park, kitting up and safety brief half the party walked up to the poplar rooms field and collected a whole large bin bag of litter from the field which was left next to the locked wheelie bins before we walked through Fabian drive onto ratcliffe drive past the school to the shops where the scouts collected the whole way and down samien way into Meade park where the team collected the other half of the party and some parents and siblings before filling another 2 large bin bags leaving these next to the car park bins. Crossing at the pelican crossing into 40 acres and back up through the park and side roads to the old school rooms. Another full bin bag and dekit, rubbish put into large bin and then big TY to all some hand sanitiser and off we went to enjoy our separate Mothers Day. Great weather. Lots achieved. More nice comments and TYs than ever before from residents. |
