Having already spent a day sea fishing, tonight was time to get down to the technical parts of the angling activity badge and Robin and Jeremy gave up their evening to take us through knots, assembling rods and tackle, environments, equipment and much much more. The scouts got all hands on with the session and now we are better trained to handle our trout fishing trip at Woolaston Court. Big thank you to the gents for coming in and helping. Two of the OSR Assistant scout leaders have completed their training and can ditch their "L" Plates. Alison Emsley was presented her wood badge at the groups AGM after many months of hard work and training. Also Harry Galgut was presented his wood badge up in London at his home scout troop HQ by his district commissioner. Both very well deserved and I would like to personally like to congratulate them and look forward to a few evenings off!

So today was the start of the Angler activity badge and we turned up at the marina in Portishead to do a bit of sea fishing in 2 sessions. The morning group had a bit of drizzle to contend with but the afternoon group had the best of it. The morning group caught a eel and a dogfish and the afternoon group only caught seaweed but both sessions were a great success and the scouts had fun most having never been fishing before. This Wednesday is the theory evening and then we have 2 sessions trout fishing later in the month. On Sunday 26th April 2015 at the annual Queens scout Parade held in Windsor Castle Phelpsie was invited after receiving his meritorious medal. The parade was held by Chief scout Bear Grills and HRH The Duchess of Gloucester inspected the scouts on parade. After there was afternoon Tea in the Harte and Garter Hotel. The 51 recipients of gallantry awards attended. Dan Woods (International Commissioner) presented Phelpsies certificate and Bear popped in for photo's |
